`My graduation speech
0 Gave Some Love
To our school president Rev. Fr. Michael Feliciano Veneracion, to our Vice President for Academic Affairs, Rev. Fr. Elmer Villamayor, to our Vice President for Administration and Finance, Rev. Fr. Richmond Nilo, to our Director for Christian Formation Program, Rev. Fr. Orlando Valino, to our highschool principal, Mrs. Lerma M. Mabagos, to our distinguished guest, Dr. AugustoF. Abeleda, Jr., to the friends and parents gathered here, to the teachers who have been our guides, to our fellow-students and classmates, good morning.
In behalf of ourclass, I wish to express my appreciation of your interest in us as shown byyour presence here today. This morning represents the end of our highschool life. The exercises of today are the crowning event of our fouryear quest for knowledge. Though College of the Immaculate Conception hasheld us together as a unit here, now we should prepare to start another chapterin our lives. Wherever we go, let us not forget the training we havereceived, the knowledge we have gained, the lessons we have learned and thevalues and habits we have formed. The knowledge, which we have gained, isvery important; so too are the habits formed.
For four years, wewere taught many different values and habits especially the three core values:excellence, service, and Christ-centeredness. We were taught to try and put ourbest efforts not only in our studies but also in other activities and aspectsof life. Given such a great blessing, we were trained to help and serve theneedy and to always remember to do God’s will.
Having gained thesevalues and habits, we are now more prepared to go and face the new and largerworld ahead of us: college life. We became more intelligent, aware, andresponsible not only as students of CIC but also as good citizens of ourcountry. Prior to the latter, we learned how to extend our hands to the lessfortunate, do something to improve our society, make a difference, and make achange for a better future.
We therefore thankthe ones who helped and made it possible for us to be here today. Firstly, ourAlmighty God who is the source of wisdom, and strength. Secondly, our parentswho, gave us the opportunity to study here and for their undying support andguidance. Thirdly, our friends and fellow graduates who in any way, helped usout, gave us pieces of advice, a good and true friendship.
Let us not forget ourteachers; we extend our sinceregratitude for their helpfulness and kindness during the years which we havespent as high school students. They have guided us successfully by theirunceasing and diligent efforts and for this, we owe to them our undyingappreciation. Words are inadequate to express our gratitude to them.
We realize also thatwe are about to leave our fellow-students, some of whom we have known allthrough our high school years, some of whom we have known but a few years, andsome of whom we have known only a few months. In saying farewell to youmay we also wish you success in the future. We hope that you may be ableto graduate from this school with dignity and pride and that someday our almamater may also be proud of us and of our achievements.
After today, some ofus may choose to stay here for college and others might enroll in otherschools. Nevertheless, none of us should ever forget College of the ImmaculateConception, never failing to honor and revere her as we should. Asgraduates, we shall soon leave her and when we return, if we do, it will be asmembers of the alumni. As alumni, we will attempt to re-live our memoriesof those joyous times, the glorious days spent here. We will rememberhappy experiences that have taken place here, and we will think of them, withjoy that we at least had them, and with sorrow that we might not be back hereliving through them once more. And so, where’er we meet, whene’er it be,we will greet our classmates, friends and teachers with joy and with a helping hand. We part today with no feelings in our hearts save joy at oursuccess and high hopes for the future. We feel that the friendships wehave formed will last throughout the years. And now the class of batch2007-2008 of College of the Immaculate Conception bids you one and allfarewell.
Once again my fellowgraduates, congratulations. Thank you.
